A day that greets you--
Good and bright,
With still consuming
sleep of night.

And skies implore
the eyes of rest--
A man asleep
upon her chest.

With heaven-born,
this gentle smile,
And painted 'pon
her clement eyes--
A care for man
that moves about
To and fro her,
but without.

Thus night now greets her--
Cold and dim,
With still consuming
fancied whim.

And skies implore
the eyes of rest--
A man still sleeps
upon her chest.
